Best Meal Favorites with CDO Luncheon Meat
One of the most versatile food items that you may find in your kitchen pantry is luncheon meat. In fact, apart from simply frying them, you can come up with great meal ideas that you can try which your whole family is going to enjoy. Take a look at some recipes of meal favorites using CDO Luncheon Meat, created by well-loved Filipino food personalities Chef Tatung (popular for his Simpol dishes) and mommy Connh Cruz (known online as The Modern Nanay).
Sisig Luncheon Meat
The Sisig Luncheon Meat is a variation of the common sisig dish that Filipinos normally know. Mommy Connh Cruz introduces this version of sisig using CDO Luncheon Meat, which you can easily prepare at home. You can use any variant of CDO Luncheon Meat for this recipe: Chinese Style, Beef, or Chicken.
Here’s what you will need:
- 1 can CDO Beef Luncheon Meat, cubes
- Cooking oil
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 1 medium size onion, chopped
- *Green chili, sliced
- 2 Tbsp liquid seasoning
- 1 Tbsp calamansi extract
- Salt & pepper taste
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
Procedure:
Step 1
Cut the Luncheon Meat into small cubes and deep fry them in cooking oil until they are nice and brown. Then set aside.
Step 2
Chop a medium-sized onion (you may want two or a larger onion depending on how much you want in your sisig). Red onions are preferred to give that nice sweet flavor but a regular white onion will do.
Step 3
In a bowl, mix the cooked luncheon meat, onions, and sliced green chili (you can lessen or add green chili depending on your preferred spicy leve). Add the 2 tablespoons of liquid season, 1 tablespoon of calamansi extract, and the ¼ cup mayonnaise. Add salt and pepper to taste. Mix all the ingredients until they are all evenly spread out in your mixture.
Step 4
Melt some 3 tablespoons of butter in a pan on high heat. Then add the sisig mixture into the frying pan and fry the mixture for about two to three minutes. Afterward, it will be ready to serve.
This recipe is great as it uses ingredients that are easy to find in your home. You can even measure how spicy you want your sisig to be – if it’s for a regular meal with the family or maybe pulutan with friends.

Chicken Cordon Bleu with CDO Chicken Luncheon Meat
Chicken Cordon Bleu is a favorite dish at parties and buffets, but most people think it’s difficult to prepare, especially since you need to roll the chicken which can be difficult for many people. But in this recipe, Chef Tatung aka Simpol introduces a simple, easy-to-do way to cook Chicken Cordon Bleu anytime with just CDO Chicken Luncheon Meat.
Here’s what you will need:
Set A:
- ½ kilo chicken breast fillet
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Set B:
- 1 can CDO Chicken Luncheon Meat
- 5-8 slices of cheese
Set C:
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon paprika
- 2 eggs
- 1/8 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
For the cheese sauce:
- 1/2 cup milk
- Garlic powder
- 1/4 cup cheese
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Procedure:
Step 1
Prepare the ½ kilo of chicken breast fillet by cutting them into smaller pieces but not too small as you will stuff each piece. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Step 2
Slice your CDO Chicken Luncheon mMeat into rectangles. Do the same for the cheese. Now take the chicken fillet and cut a hole inside the breast fillet as if you were making a pocket inside. Stuff one slice of cheese and one slice of luncheon meat each, then set aside.
If you have remaining luncheon meat, slice them in thicker chunks then cut them halfway in the middle similar to what you did with the chicken, and put a slice of cheese in the middle.
Step 3
Prepare your breading by putting the cornstarch into a bowl with water, salt, pepper, paprika, and 2 eggs directly. Mix the batter well. In another bowl, prepare your bread crumbs, flour dried basil, with salt and pepper.
Step 4
Dip the prepared chicken into the batter until it’s completely coated. Then take it and put it into the bread crumb mixture for the breading until it’s completely covered. Do this for all the pieces of chicken and the remaining luncheon meat.
Step 5
Put a frying pan on a stove with medium heat and some cooking oil. Fry your chicken cordon bleu pockets and the chicken luncheon meat pockets until they are golden brown on one side. Flip them to the other side until all parts of the chicken have turned golden brown. Set aside.
Step 6
Prepare the cheese sauce by putting together the milk, cheese, and garlic powder in a saucepan or pot. Add salt and pepper to taste until the cheese has completely melted into the mixture.
Step 7
Cut the chicken cordon bleu in half, then serve with the cheese sauce.
This simplified way by Chef Tatung won’t have you spending hours in the kitchen preparing it. And if you don’t have chicken, you can still transform your regular luncheon meat into Cordon Bleu by stuffing it with cheese and coat with the batter and bread crumbs.
